Starting off my first full day in Tangier, Morocco bright and early I needed to be ready and downstairs by 8:50am!! After a full night's sleep, I was still exhausted from all the fun and adventures we'd been having on the trip thus far, but I knew I had to push through. I'd heard such good things about the city of Tangier, and I was so glad we were finally about to go.

The first stop of the day was a guided tour of the Medinas in Tangier. I believe this has been a favorite hot spot for everyone to visit in all the cities we've been in the country of Morocco, not only because you meet so many interesting people not only from Morocco, but we also meet people from neighboring countries and cities all in one place; plus, the prices are unbeatable. During our guided tour of the Medinas in Tangier, I learned a lot about the rich history of the Kasbah--which means a fortress, typically built on high ground for defense purposes--which encompasses four different quarters. The picture shown above is actually a really pretty walkway of the residential quarter where people actually live in this historical site.
On this tour we had the opportunity to also see the Grand Socco Area, which is the transition between the old and new Medina, The Jewish quarter which is where all the real gold and silver are sold, and lastly the Souk Barra, which is like their town square or central Medina is located. Of all the cities we've had the opportunity to view and shop from, I would have to say this one was easiest to navigate. Still buzzing with life and endless small shops to get souvenirs from, the Medinas of Morocco would be a place I would return to without a doubt.
On our tour the Medina, we stopped a few places to take some cute pics " for the Gram" as our tour guide teased. Behind me in this picture is the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, which I had never seen before this day. It was so beautiful!!

We had a long day ahead, and the Medina was just the start of it. To grab a quick bite between our tour and our next adventure I opted to have a fruit filled lunch after seeing the beautiful fruit stands throughout the Medina. I was able to get a huge watermelon and nice sized container of raspberries for less than 10 USD, and I couldn't have been happier.

After our lunch in the Medina, our afternoon was just as eventful as our morning hours. A short bus ride about 20 minutes from the Medina, we arrived at the most beautiful clear-watered beach I've ever seen in person, where we were informed, we'd be riding camels! I'd never ridden a camel before, and I was terrified the entire time, but I did it and I survived it. So now I can officially say I have ridden a camel! I definitely would recommend it, simply because it is such a unique experience that not everyone has the luxury to take part in; plus, the pictures from up there are unimaginable!

We ended our day by visiting the Cave of Hercules, Cape Spartel, and having dinner together as a group. For dinner we had lamb tajine, and after, a plethora of cookies to go around, which was much appreciated after the day we had.
See you all next time!
