Our first day in Meknes offered more than just lessons. It was a meaningful introduction to Morocco’s spirit. As we explored its rich culture and global role connecting Africa and Europe, we began to see beyond facts and lectures. Through class, museum visits, and historic sites, we didn’t just learn about Morocco. We experienced it.
First Day of Class

We started with a lecture on Morocco’s position as a global connector. Discussions around migration, trade, and renewable energy highlighted how Morocco’s geography and diplomacy shape its influence across Africa and Europe. It was a compelling way to start thinking about borders, identity, and cooperation.
Street Art

On our way to the Dar Jamai Museum, we walked along the edges of the Medina in Meknes and came across a vibrant street painting that beautifully reflected Morocco’s cultural heritage. We paused to take this photo, capturing not just the art, but the spirit of the journey itself.

Inside, we admired musical instruments, traditional clothing, and delicate ceramics. These items revealed Morocco’s dedication to craftsmanship and its vibrant artistic heritage
Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail

We ended at the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, a peaceful and sacred site. The symmetry, tile-work, and light made it a moving reflection on Morocco’s imperial past and spiritual legacy.
Our first day in Meknes was more than a tour. It was a full-on dive into Moroccan life. From colorful streets to ancient halls, every step brought a new story to life. We didn’t just see the culture, we walked through it, heard it, and felt it.
More magic coming up!
