How much can a Tuesday bring?

Good morning everyone, I can't believe it's Tuesday. I didn't have the best night of sleep because I wasn't feeling the best but that didn't stop my day! Me and Precious woke up, being greeted by our homestay's son, Daniel (5 years old)! He greets us every morning once breakfast is ready, and he gets my morning going! This morning we had empanadas which were filled with beans, and I always have a coffee to drink. After watching the news, interacting with our mama tica and Daniel it was time to head to class.

In todays class we learned about biodiversity in Costa Rica! This is one of the most exciting lectures I looked forward to for this study abroad experience. There are a range of species which Costa Rica has a high number in. With 6% of Costa Rica being apart of the total biodiversity percentage in the world, there are 12,000 different species of moths and butterflies, 300,000 species of insects and 917 species of birds. The species of birds are more than the total bird species in the United States along with the species of moths and butterflies being more than the total moth species of Africa. With the trip we had in Monteverde this past weekend, it was great to take what I've learned from there and add it to the lesson we had today. As the lectured wrapped up, we all headed to lunch before our game of futbol.

For our game of futbol, me and Haley were captains so we each took turns choosing our teammates. This game was very competitive and fun. The other team claims they won the game, but in reality there was a tie! A lot of people got kicked in the shins and toes were stepped on, but overall it was great to see everyone enjoy a moment together full of sports and laughter. When the game was over, me, Precious and Rafael walked to Walmart. The walk was very rough but there were many jokes shared along the way. I went into Walmart to get ingredients to make dinner for my homestay family, but they unfortunately  didn't have what I needed. On the brighter side, we found different snacks and ingredients to make brownies! I'm excited to make brownies for my homestay family, and ready to surprise them with a board game.

When I got back to the homestay, I talked to my papa and mama tica outside. They showed me their garden which had garlic, sweet peppers, beans and papaya. The best part was seeing the Guaria Morada flower grow right in the backyard (the national flower of Costa Rica)! After taking a look at the garden, we all had a talk about my experience in Costa Rica. We shared how sad we are since time is winding down, and how important we are to each other. It was great to share how much we enjoyed each other and to hear I can come back anytime with my family! After this talk me and Precious were taught many futbol tricks in which we struggled with a lot. After the tips and tricks it was time to eat dinner and settle down for the night.

The day had a few hills and dips, but what is a good day without any rough patches. Thank you for reading about my journey, I wish you the best!
