The Economy

Writer's picture: Rafael C.Rafael C.

This fine morning, we started more normal than usual. Throughout most of our time in Costa Rica our mornings started with breakfast and a bit of haste. Because we usually left our homestay a bit late, we usually had to move quickly to get to U Latina (the university we were attending in Costa Rica) on time, but this particular morning we were able to leave at a decent time and were even able to walk to class with Sammy and Tanya. This class consisted of a two-hour presentation by José Daniel Cordoba Molina, a Lawyer and economist, that went over Costa Rica’s economy and the way that sustainability plays a role in it. I found his presentation interesting because of the different topics that he was able to tie to his presentation of Costa Rica's economy, mostly some phrases and particular things that Costa Rica does to encourage sustainability.

After his presentation we went to eat at Villa Gastronomica. It’s an interesting place that has a variety of restaurants in one location. Honestly, the amount of food to choose from was a little overwhelming, but I was more tired than hungry, so I just played on my phone and began writing this blog. The group played a game called Kingdoms, but I wasn’t very interested, so I sat out and took a nap. A few of us wanted to go to the Oxigenio (a nearby mall) but I wanted to keep sleeping so I headed back with Vivian and Karla. Shoutout to them for letting me trap with them back to our home stays. After I got back to my homestay, I just fell asleep until the group was ready to head out again in an attempt to use up as much time as we had left in on the trip. Unfortunately, our plans did not go very smoothy and the night ended with me and Nay splitting the cost of some okay wings and all of us heading back to our homestays a bit disappointed. Overall, I am very grateful and glad I was able to experience Costa Rica with the mates, but I really want to take the fattest nap of my life.

sincerely yours truly
